“This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" ~ Psalm 118:24
Dear Panther Families,
2021 is off to a fantastic start! While COVID has certainly presented us with challenges, I am continually impressed with the creativity, patience, and perseverance of those in our community. With Catholic Schools Week just around the corner, we are having to adjust plans and hold off on large group activities - including our traditional History Day and Science Fair presentations. However, HASA is developing a spirit week to help us celebrate Catholic Schools Week. Mrs. White and the teachers are working on a way to showcase the student projects that are currently in formation, such as History Day, Science Fair, and Wax museum.
While our traditional Open House will not take place, we do plan to offer scheduled tours to prospective new families on Sunday, January 31 from 11:30 to 1:30. If you know of anyone who may be interested in joining our school community, please encourage them to reach out. You may also share this tour sign-up link with them.
We are in need of assistance with our lunch program. If you are able to help between 10:30 and 12:30 any day of the week, we would greatly appreciate it! If you can walk swiftly, carry up to 10 pounds, and stairs don’t bother you, we would really appreciate some assistance packaging and delivering lunches. If you can help us out, please give us a call or email.
Tomorrow is the end of quarter 2. Please ensure your child has all of their homework caught up and turned in. Report cards will be coming home on Thursday the 21st. We will continue with the option for Virtual Learning for Pre-K through Grade 8 for Quarter 3. Please note - this is only to be used if there is a concern for COVID. It is not intended to allow for additional vacation time or for students that prefer to be at home.
As we begin Quarter 3, just a few reminders:
We ask that all families indicate their learning option preference (virtual or in-person) for quarter 3 by tomorrow using this link. If you would like to discuss which option may be best, I am happy to be available to speak with you.
Please continue student health screens each morning, including temperature checks. If your child is not feeling well for any reason, please do not send them to school. Submit reasons for absence (in-person and virtual) on our attendance form.
Students should come to school with a filled flask/bottle of water or a plastic store-bought bottle of water. Our drinking spout water fountains are not available for student use. We do have water bottle filling stations.
We now have our new playground safety gate installed. The fence has a smaller gate opening in the crosswalk area along the school. You may drop students off in the crosswalk area to walk through the gate opening, prior to pulling up to the school entrance. This will help with morning traffic flow.
From our Virtues=Strength program: Our virtue this week is Forgiveness - The strength to write off a debt of any kind and start fresh with a clean slate. To truly forgive someone from our heart is one of the hardest things we can ever do. It takes a tremendous amount of virtue. Let’s start by FORGIVING someone in our family who may have offended us in some way.
Next Monday, January 18th, is Martin Luther King. Jr. Day. There will be no school, but we hope to see everyone at Mass on Saturday/Sunday or watching on YouTube. Mass times are 4:15pm Saturday and on Sunday at 8:15am and 10:30am.
