“How good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity!”
~ Psalm 133:1
Dear Panther Families,
As a Valentine treat, students may come to school tomorrow wearing jeans (no sweat pants or leggings) and Valentine’s day colored tops (pink, red, white). We have some uniform updates to share - with the chilly temperatures, we will allow students to temporarily wear solid color long sleeve t-shirts underneath their polos, with the intent that they will be purchasing a fleece or sweater that may later be worn in the classroom. There is a new new Spirit Wear shirt, designed by our very own Mrs. Coughlin, available for purchase in our vendor’s webstore.
Thank you to all who contributed to the Souper Bowl Food drive. It was a huge success! About 800 items were donated to St. Vincent de Paul, including both food and personal hygiene items! Photos are available in the online album. Congratulations to 7T who brought in the most items per student! Their donations amounted to 17 per student!
One of our current initiatives is to display and celebrate diversity in sacred imagery. Some eighth grade students are helping with the research of these images and artwork. A huge thank you to the Leblang family for this framed picture of St. Josephine Bakhita, whose feast day was Monday (photo).
There are many exciting projects and units of study happening in the school. Our 4th and 5th graders are currently studying groundbreaking leaders including Fleming Pansy Kittrell, Bessie Coleman, and St. Martin de Porres. Our 5-8th grade students’ wrapped up their History Day, Science Fair, and Wax Museum projects. Congratulations to our Science Fair finalists, who are listed below. History Day will be judged virtually in March. After researching cathedrals around the world, 3rd graders are constructing “Ice Cathedrals”. As we are unable to display these for you all to view in person, you can view student projects here .
Science Fair Finalists:
Honorable Mentions: Chloe Alumbaugh, Nick Coleman, Olivia Orians, and Molly Morse
3rd Place: Evelyn Njuguna
2nd Place: Kaleb Johnson
1st Place: Angela Pham
As part of our Virtues = Strength program, our perfectly timed virtue this week is UNITY - The strength to be one in mind, heart, and soul. We learned actions such as lying, insults, sharing another’s private information, and criticising are behaviors that weaken unity and can cause separation.
Please join us this weekend for Mass. Bishop Rhoades will be celebrating Mass this Saturday at 4:15. We also have Mass at 8:15 am and 10:30 am on Sunday. You can also watch on YouTube.
Sincerely,
Karen Bogol
