This "extended" winter weather led to some chilly days this past week. At this time, our boiler is not functional and therefore we have no heat. We are looking forward to the installation of a new boiler over the summer and dependable heating system next winter.
As we do not want students to be cold, we are making some allowances to our uniform. Students should have a uniform fleece or sweater for extra warmth. Teachers may allow non-uniform sweatshirt depending on the temperature of the room. We ask for your support in ensuring students have an appropriate extra layer with them.
We are encouraging heavier socks (non-uniform is okay for now) and multiple layers - such as long sleeved shirts under the uniform. Leggings under uniform skirts/dresses are also being permitted as we await warmer temperatures. Students should avoid shorts as much as possible.
We do have some funds available to assist with uniforms. Please reach out to Pam White, pwhite@stasb.org, or myself,
kbogol@stasb.org, if we can be of assistance in purchasing a uniform fleece or sweater.
This week we announced an exciting partnership for before and after school care between our school and the YMCA. This partnership brings our two faith based organizations together for increased opportunities for students and families. One benefit of this partnership is special pricing for summer care opportunities. Please reach out to Maycie Wise if you have any questions or concerns about Before or After School Care for 2019-2020. Both Maycie will be in our library at 7:30 tomorrow morning (May 3, 2019) if you would like to meet!
Please keep our 2nd grades in your prayers. They have been busy preparing their hearts to receive Jesus in the Sacrament of First Holy Communion this Sunday at 1:30pm. They are so excited and ready! Photos of their retreat this past week are available on our website photo album.
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Teacher Appreciation Week is a week-long celebration in recognition of teachers and the contributions they make to education and society. It provides an opportunity for students, their parents, and myself to show appreciation for the hard work teachers do and the long hours many of them put in. Teachers don’t just teach children. They help prepare them for the road ahead in life. Saying you appreciate that effort reminds a teacher that their impact goes beyond the classroom. A personal note or email from a student or parent means so much to a teacher. We have truly amazing teachers here at St. Anthony School and we appreciate all that they do for our students!
We hope you will join us for Art Night next Thursday night from 6:00 to 7:30pm. Art Night is an evening of family art activities, student art displays, and a class art project auction with all proceeds supporting Fine Arts and the purchase of a die cutting machine for our school! Our band students will treat us with a performance at the event. Families may also pre-order a Barnaby’s pizza to be on hand when they arrive to enjoy a family meal. Please pre-order pizzas by tomorrow, May 3.
Please join us for Mass on Saturday at 4:30 PM or on Sunday at 7:00 AM, 9:00 AM, or 11:00 AM. Or join us at 1:30 PM on Sunday and be a part of our 2nd grade’s First Holy Communion!
