"Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.” ~ Deuteronomy 32:2
Dear Panther Families,
The Most Reverend Kevin C. Rhoades has scheduled a live-streamed liturgy for all of our schools for tomorrow, Friday, May 1, 2020, at 10:00 AM. He intends to celebrate the Mass of Saint Joseph the Worker, and we are grateful for his steadfast leadership during this crisis. We are asking our teachers to suspend all eLearning during that time and to account for this time in Friday’s learning boards. . Please have your students, if possible, view and participate in the live-streamed Mass.
Thank you to all who have registered for the 2020-2021 school year! There is a diocesan team working on recommendation for the new school year given the pandemic and we will be sure to communicate plans with you as they emerge.
As we look forward to next year, we have some bittersweet news to share. Two of our beloved faculty members will be transitioning. Our beloved kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Anna Hubbard, is expecting a baby girl in August. After much prayer and consideration, she will be staying home with her baby daughter. We wish her all the best and can’t wait to meet her baby girl. We were blessed to have Mrs. Hubbard with us and will miss her terribly. Anna contributed so much to our students and school with her positivity, calm demeanor, and commitment to supporting each of her students.
Josie Goepfrich has been an especially cheerful and dependable member of St. Anthony School for the past 28 years. And while she is not leaving us completely, she will be stepping away from her role as librarian. She is looking forward to being more available to her increasing number of grandchildren! She will continue to come in to work with students and help us out as her schedule allows. Mrs Gorpfrich has been working at St Anthony for the past 28 years as a lunchroom assistant, instructional assistant, recess monitor, and for the past 17 years, our librarian. We will miss her joyful presence each day, but we are thrilled she will still be helping us out next year.
Some other moves in the works...
Mrs. Wisniewski, who is expecting a baby the first week of June, will become our full time resource teacher.
Mrs. Voll will continue to be our music teacher, but will take some time around the end of October as she plans for the birth of her first child.
Mrs. Stopczynski will be joining Mrs. Johnson on the first grade team, as we will have two sections of first grade.
As we will have two sections of third grade, we are excited to welcome Miss Sara Bogol to the third grade team with Mr. Joyce. Miss Bogol comes to us from St. Adalberts, where she has been teaching 5th grade the past two years. She was interviewed by a team that included the school advisory board president, MariClare Osborne, and three of our teachers. The interview team determined her to be an excellent fit for our school mission and community. She has proven herself to be an effective and respected teacher at St. Adalbert’s and Holy Family, where she worked as an instructional assistant. We are excited to have her joining our faculty. It just so happens, we share the same last name because she is my niece. Please don’t hold that against her!
We are happy to have Mrs. Nitz returning to teach P.E., Miss Garvey to Fine Arts, and Senora Shyne for Spanish.
Thank you for your continued commitment and support of St. Anthony de Padua Parish and School. As we finish 2019-2020 strong, we are looking ahead to a great 2020-2021. If you know of a family interested in Catholic school, we are still accepting registrations. We are also looking to
fill a position for Computer Science, Library, and an instructional assistant.
Also - next Wednesday, May 6th, will be a special spirit wear day - Costumes! This will be announced to students tomorrow, so get ready to e-learn in costume and share your pics with us!
Pets make our stay at home more enjoyable. We know many of our families have welcomed new pets and/or have beloved pets bringing comfort and joy during this time. We would like to have a virtual pet show! Please submit a photo with your family pets and we will start a photo album to share with everyone!
Costume and pet photos may be submitted via email to to school@stasb.org.
