"Flowers appear on the earth; the season of singing has come, the cooing of doves is heard in our land. The fig tree forms its early fruit; the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.” ~ Song of Songs 2:12-13
Dear Panther Families,
Hello and Happy Friday! Our last official day of school will be Wednesday, May 27th. The last learning boards will be posted on Friday, May 22nd. Between May 26th and 29th we will have opportunities for dropping off and picking up supplies.
We will have office hours next week. These are intended for picking up essential materials for continued learning at home, such as textbooks or dropping off paperwork. Student materials will not yet be organized for return. We encourage you to wait to collect belongings until the week of May 26th - 29th. If you do have a need that cannot wait, our office hours next week are as follows:
Prior to Spring Break, we sent out a survey to get feedback regarding our elearning process so far. We appreciate the responses we receive and have been looking at the feedback carefully. Some adjustments have been made as a result of the survey, including trying to include more instructional videos. We are trying to limit the number of applications and logins required.
One question that was asked frequently was regarding feedback and readiness for next year. Teachers of students in grades PK - 3 will be providing feedback to you regarding your child’s work through a weekly email. Grades 4 - 8 are receiving grades through PowerSchool and feedback on assignments through Google Classroom.
While specials are a valuable part of our instructional programming, we are not requiring specials be completed each week. In grades 4-8, students receive a grade in Computer Science and Music. There will be a key assignment in each course that will be required for grading purposes. The teachers will communicate and ensure students know about these. Other than those key assignments, specials can be completed at the discretion of the parent.
Teachers at all grade levels are teaching and assessing the most important skills for the next grade level. However, we understand and appreciate that this is not an authentic or ideal teaching/learning environment. Rest assured, we are preparing to adjust instruction in the fall to account for this unique situation. Another question we received was regarding the 3 day a week format. Given our observations and survey feedback, we will be adhering to the M-W-F learning boards.
Thank you so much for your communications with us and survey participation. We greatly value your input and perspective as we continue to adjust to elearning. We appreciate your continued communication and patience during this unusual time.
