"Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God has come near to you.” ~ Luke 10:9
Dear Panther Families,
We hope you can join us for the parish Fish Fry tomorrow evening from 4-7! Our girls basketball team plays at St. Pius at 6pm as well. Two great opportunities to connect with families and support the community. Thank you to everyone who has donated time, food, or drink to this great event. It isn’t too late to get involved: you can sign up here.
Reminder, tomorrow is a Curriculum Day for teachers - no school for students. Monday, March 9 is an early release day - students released at 1:45pm. Teachers will be in training and curriculum development.
During our March Retreat yesterday, students made baby blankets for the Women's Care Center, buttons for Logan's center, and cards for our homebound parishioners. They also spent time in Adoration and enjoyed a House Pep Rally. There are many photos in our online album.
Health officials are currently taking steps to prevent the introduction and spread of COVID-19 (novel coronavirus) into US communities. Our local health officials are also tracking the spread of this disease and making action plans. Please be mindful of the guidelines below:
When reporting absences, please state the exact reason for the absence (i.e. vomiting, fever, coughing).
Teach children to wash their hands often and effectively. A proper handwashing strategy includes washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. One tip is to teach children to lather hands with soap and rub the fronts and backs of hands while singing the “Happy Birthday” song twice before rinsing.
Teach children to cough and sneeze into their elbows or a tissue.
If your family travels outside of the country, please let us know. A 14-day self-isolation time, from the time of return, is recommended to assure no infection if there has been a chance for exposure.
As parents, we know that it is always difficult to decide when a child should stay home from school. Here are a few guidelines to help you make that decision. We appreciate your help keeping our school a healthy environment for all students!
A fever of 100 degrees or higher before school in the morning- do not have the student return to school until the student has been fever free for 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.
A “heavy cold or hacking cough”, even without a fever (cough that disturbs normal activity).
If you have medical questions or concerns, please feel free to email our school nurse, Maureen VerVaet at Maureen.VerVaet@sjrmc.com
We are proud to acknowledge the attached list of honor roll students for Trimester 2. These students have worked hard to achieve academic success, signified by their achieving trimester grades at or above 90% in all subject areas for high honor roll or trimester grades at or above 85% in all subject areas for honor roll. Good job students! Honor roll students will be recognized at Mass and a special breakfast courtesy of HASA on Friday, March 13. Parents will receive an invitation via email.
